February 2022

At the start of February our CEO, Ben Reed, and Membership Officer, Lisa Lonergan, attended Labour’s Regional Roadshow on Transport, Benefits and Social Care. It was hosted by Vicky Foxcroft MP, Shadow Minister for Disabled People, joining her was Karin Smyth MP, Shadow Minister for Social Care and Tan Dhesi MP, Shadow Minister for Transport.  The event was well attended by Disabled People’s Organisations (DPO’s) and disabled people. Tan Dhesi explained Labour’s focus was on rail travel and making all stations step free, however, realistically that is a long way off. He reported that 15% of people who fall from the platforms are blind or partially sighted people.

January 2022

We kicked off January with our annual member survey. In membership this is one of our favourite times of the year. It gives us a real opportunity to connect with our members and hear how things are for you. By sharing your thoughts and experiences we can focus our projects and campaigns on the subjects that you tell us are important to you and work on breaking down those barriers that you face daily.

December 2021

Since our last update we have been very busy in Membership and the Development Team. In November we held our online lunchtime event to give an overview of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). It was a fantastic opportunity to hear from our members about the barriers they face daily and to anonymously use that evidence to write a report for Inclusion London who will compile the final report. You can read more about the UN CRDP here:

November 2021

Our CEO, Ben Reed, and Membership Officer, Lisa Lonergan, feel a regular update on our website, telling you about the work we are doing and the opportunities that we get presented with for our members would be a beneficial addition to our lines of communication. Our Membership offer and organisation is already driven by our members. Our Membership Officer Lisa would like to build on this and encourage more participation from members, and potential members, to ensure your voices are heard on the issues that you feel passionately about and have lived experience in.
