Is 2022 your year to become an Equal Lives Trustee?

The start of a new year is a great opportunity to take on a new challenge; mastering a skill, learning and new language or doing more of the things you already do. If you identify as disabled and would like the opportunity to make positive changes in the disability community, do consider becoming a Equal Lives Trustee!

At Equal Lives we are proud to say 100% of our trustees identify as disabled. We have a wealth of skills, experience and passion within our board of trustees. Our trustees have created a fantastic video about being an Equal Lives trustee.

A few of the stand out lines from this video include:

"Represent those who receive personal budgets or direct payments"

"Use my experience and my skills and training to help other people."

"Working in the community to help my fellow people with disabilities and long term illness to have a voice"

"Making sure disabled people's voices are heard and to ensure that they live independently as everyone else."

"We need a voice that is truly representative"

Do you know what it's like to be a disabled person in Norfolk and Suffolk? Would you like the opportunity to steer the direction of the organisation and amplify disabled voices to overcome barriers to independence?

We are looking for a trustee who is:

  • Passionate about the rights of disabled people

  • Keen to disable barriers to independence

  • Has personal experience of disability

  • Flexible and able to attend monthly meetings via Teams

If this blog has peaked your interest, please do get in touch with your questions or interest to apply. To enquire about becoming a trustee please contact our Chief Executive for an initial discussion. You can call him on 01508 491210 or email him ben.reed@equallives.org.uk.
